The Criterion Collection has released the titles of the six films that they will be adding to their already impressive The Blob (1958)collection, in March, 2013. Two of the films are already in the collection, and are now being released on blu-ray, while the other four films will be making their debut.

On March 12, 2013 they will release:

The Blob (1958)- Directed by Irvin S. Yeaworth Jr. (Previously released in the Criterion Collection on dvd.) Starring Steve McQueen and Aneta Corsaut.Ministry Of Fear (1944)

Ministry Of Fear (1944)- Directed by Fritz Lang (This is a film that is hard to find and in much need of this wide release.) Starring Ray Milland and Majorie Reynolds.

On March 19, 2013 they will release:The Life And Death Of Colonel Blimp (1943)

The Life And Death Of Colonel Blimp (1943)- Directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger (Previously released in the Criterion Collection on dvd.) Starring Deborah Kerr and Roger Livesey.Badlands (1973)

Badlands (1973)- Directed by Terrence Malick (This is the third Terrence Malick film added to the Criterion Collection, and his directorial debut.) Starring Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek.

On March 26, 2013 they will release:

Monsieur Verdoux (1947)- Directed by Charlie Chaplin (This is the fourth Chaplin film to be added to the collection.) Starring Charlie Chaplin and Martha Rae, inspired by an idea from Orson Welles.A Man Escaped (1956)

A Man Escaped (1956)- Directed by Robert Bresson (I believe this is the sixth Bresson release to the collection, and it is also an extremely hard to find film.) Starring Francois Leterrier.

Saw “Badlands” for the first time this summer. What an amazing movie!! Sheen and Spacek are perfect. The movie was so mesmerizing, I couldn’t even take my eyes off the screen.

After I heard “Badlands” was being released as a Criterion, I watched the film again, (then sold my DVD and pre-ordered the Criterion) and came out loving it even more than the last time. I am finishing up my “Badlands” post and it should be up on my site early next week.
